Our Story
We believe that true luxury comes from depth, not display. From soul, not surface.
For most of my professional life, I have worked with one of the rarest crocodile skins in the world.
I am Rafael Zarazúa, co-founder of MORELET.
This is our story.
MORELET was born from the vision of two founders — Marco Novelo and me. I first approached Marco in 2012 for advice on starting my own crocodile farm. He had already spent more than a decade raising the species and supplying its skins to a French maison, while I was only beginning.
What began as a sourcing business — breeding crocodiles, supplying precious raw skins — became a more deliberate idea: to transform a material of exceptional origin into a maison of our own.
Step by step, we moved from exporting raw hides to tanning, leathercraft, and design. Testing. Learning. Evolving.
In April 2021, that vision took its name: MORELET — for the species itself, Crocodylus moreletii.
We carry its name to keep our origin close: the Mexican farms where this crocodile is raised.
This is not a story of trends, but of time. Of choosing substance over spectacle. And of believing that true luxury is built, not proclaimed.
Today, we create leather goods from Morelet's crocodile — raised in Mexico on our own farms, shaped by hand into objects made to be handed down.
From origin to object.
Every MORELET piece is this journey made tangible: the founders, the artisans, their families, and a material that is never twice the same.
In the end, it is simple: a rare material, an origin that is ours, and objects crafted by master artisans to endure.
This is MORELET.
